Lyft is the latest business to offer benefits to Detroit residents through the Detroit ID program launched in December.
Residents who sign up for the ride-share service using their Detroit ID will receive a $25 credit, divided into $5 for five rides, according to a city news release.
“The Detroit ID is continuing to provide improved access to city services and discounts on everything from food to museums and now Lyft rides,” Mayor Mike Duggan said in the release. “We’re pleased to add Lyft to all the businesses giving discounts to residents.”
More than 100 businesses are offering benefits through the ID program, according to the release. A complete list can be found on the city’s website.
With a Detroit ID, holders can access city services, pay their water bill and sign up for a savings account with One Detroit Credit Union.
The Detroit ID program is available to all city residents, including homeless individuals and immigrants. It costs $25 with a $10 bi-annual renewal fee. For those over 62 years of age and ages of 14-18 the initial purchase of the card is $10.

Regular sign-ups are at Patton Park Recreational Center, 2301 Woodmere St., and the Samaritan Center, 5555 Conner St. Each is open 1-7 p.m. Monday-Wednesday and 0 a.m.–6 p.m. Saturdays.
There will be an additional enrollment session 3-8 p.m. Thursday at Lasky Recreation Center, 13200 Fenelon St., offering a discounted fee of $10.
